Date Night

Since Wicked was coming to our area, I told Chris I really wanted to see it and I wanted him to make it happen.  So he did!   We had lots of fun.  I have to admit, I am still getting used to people being so friendly in this area.  It still catches me off guard when strangers start talking to me. Well, a short little quip in passing isn't as weird as full on conversations.  Dinner was almost like a double date!  The conversation was about all I enjoyed about dinner.

The show was FANTASTIC.  It went by so quickly.  But maybe it is because I have tried to read the book it is based upon and it is anything but quick!  The show almost makes me want to try and read the book again.  Chris really got us fabulous seats.  The costumes were phenomenal; it made me miss my mom a bit.  I wanted to call her and chat about it.  I have come very close to seeing the Wicked in the passed, but it just never worked out, but I sure am glad it did this time. The cast was great, unlike my experience with Les Miserables with and awful Jean Valjean, which just ruins the show.   It was easy to see how Kristen Chenoweth was originally cast as Glinda.   And Vicki Noon was outstanding as Elphaba.  I do have to say... I didn't care much for Chris Peluso's performance as Fiyero.  BUT luckily it isn't as crucial a role and I could get past the weak performance.  (Obviously others have a different opinion on Mr. Peluso)

It was fun to run into a few friends before and after the show, it always seems more fun when you can share in something on accident.

Since we don't get out much we took a picture before hand.  That way we have it documented and we don't have to waste half of our dinner conversation debating when the last time we went out actually was!

Who's that sexy momma? You guys look great and Wicked is a GREAT date night! I didn't care for Fiyero's performance as much either - a little too cheesy for my taste. But I got over it quick!

That's a really nice picture of you guys! Sounds like a lot of fun. I wish we'd gone to Wicked while in Memphis!

SO fun! And I'll tell you that I loved both the musical and the book, but I'll also tell you that the book is VERY different (read it first) and that I don't think I know any other Mormons who have read it and liked it. It has a sexual focus that the musical left out completely :) But I thought the story was fascinating and love how well it tied into the original Wizard of Oz, albeit showing a very tragic side to it all.
