I remember our first year here it got really high. We had gone to a picnic on Mud Island and played along the shore. Then a few months later we were visiting someone on Mud Island and we could not believe how much higher the water was. It was so high that the park we had played at was now underwater. But that was nothing compare to this year.
It crested in this area on May 10. It reached 47.85 feet. (the all time record was in 1937 at 48.7 feet). We are very fortunate and do not live that close to the river and were not in danger of flooding. We were also out of town for the week. But I wanted to mention this since it is happening around us.
So here are a few pictures to document. Most of them I got from various places around the internet.
This is the corner of Beale Street and Riverside Drive
This is River Park at the end of the River Walk.
This is a picture of Kiah playing in the fountain right next to the above picture. It was taken in 2009. You can sorta make out the swan boats int he background. And you can see the green roofed snack bar. My guess is it will be awhile before we will be heading back.
This was taken 5 days before it crested
