Cow Appreciation

Chick-fil-A had Cow Appreciation Day!  It was last Friday.   The kids love going to Chick-fil-A to play in the play area.  Chris and I love Chick-fil-A because that is the closest we come to a date these days.  So make a free date and it is even better!  We decided to head over with some friends to make a "double date."  I got everone dressed in simple clothes and made some masks and cow costume pieces.  As we were driving over to our friends house it started to rain.  And then it happened... everything went into slow motion and I knew it was going to happen and it did!  We got in an car accident.  It wasn't bad, but it was bad enough.  I called our friends to let them know we were not going to make it, then I called the police.

We then took off our costume pieces.  We just didn't think being dressed like a cow was the proper way to interact with the police.  It was raining decently so the cop had Chris and the other guy sit in the squad car in the "back" to stay dry.  Kiah had a hard time with seeing Daddy sit in a cop car.  I was just glad he wasn't dressed like a cow.

We did end-up heading over to Chick-fil-A.  I thought we would only get a free sandwich.... but we got full meals.  We got 3 kids meals and 2 combo meals fro $.60, only because I upgraded one of the fries to a fruit cup.  It was awesome!  We didn't get in our "Full" costumes because they had gotten a bit soggy.  But we had fun chatting and playing with the whole herd of fellow cows.
Here is what was left of our costumes.  The kids were too busy playing for a picture. There costumes were a bit better.  I converted a dalmatian costume into a cow for Kiah to wear.

The van ended-up with more damage than we had thought.  We actually barely made it home.  Apparently the radiator was cracked in the accident.  because the van is older the insurance thinks they will probably total it out.  So we may end-up with a new van.  We aren't sure yet since they haven't actual come to look at it.  And I guess they won't look at it for a bit longer.  They said they are going to tow it a few hours away and make the assessment. Then if they aren't going to total it out they will tow it back for us to get it fixed.   Doesn't seem efficient to me, but I don't make the rules.

We have a rental car right now.  First we had a Dodge Journey.  That is what we had last time we had a rental.  It is a nice car.  This one especially.  It had Satellite radio and a bunch of great upgraded features.  But the carseats don't really fit well in the back seat. (last time I did it... and it was a PAIN, and now the kids are MUCH older and bigger)  There is a 3rd row that you can fold-up.  So we did and put Kiah there.  But the easiest way to let her in was through the tailgate.  A bit of a hassle.  And it left us with NO cargo room.  I was a bit concerned since we re-scheduled our trip to Nauvoo.

Opportunity knocked.  Yesterday morning the car started chiming and alerting it was time to change the oil.  So we called the rental place and they said to come in and exchange the car.  So we got a Ford Explorer.  All 3 of the kids fit in the back seat.  SO we can leave the 3rd row of seats folded down to use for CARGO!  We lost the form and features of the journey... but we gained a lot of function... since now I don't have to open EVERY single door in the car to load my kids in.  I can open one and they all can get in.

ETA: I wish I had pictures to show for this, but the few I had were lost in cyberspace.

I Hate car accidents and have been in many! Hopefully you get a new van though, that would be great (at least I'm assuming that would be great for you) Your costumes were great! My cousin went too and dressed up. Too funny!

Sorry about the accident... It's good to hear everyone is ok.
Speaking of openeing every door - our Pilot is like that. The third row seat is so conveinent UNLESS you have to use it everyday - which we do - with 4 kids now. We were a bit jam packed for our Nauvoo trip.

I am glad we could still have an enjoyable evening at Chik-fil-a! That is the Fisher family for you though, happy attitude no matter what! It could be your family motto...new car, new car, new car!!!
