Establishing a House of God : Prayer

I kept this one pretty simple.  I used some of the lesson from here about Heavenly Father answering prayers (mainly I used the first story) and added some activities from here to help us figure out out how to make our prayers more meaningful by pondering and listening.

We talked a lot about what it means to ponder and how to ponder.  Kiah helped me to demonstrate a one sided conversation to drive home the point of the need to listen.

At the end I had the kids start a very simple prayer journal.  I wanted them to write down things that they were thankful for and things that they maybe wanted to ask for as well.  I was really impressed with what they came up with.

We did make a little prayer tracker using beads and a ribbon.  It is for our family prayers. Pretty simple, 14 beads on a  ribbon.  We slide the beads from one side to the other after a prayer is said.

Kiah picked the songs, and I thought she did a great job. She picked "Child's Prayer" and "I pray in faith"
