New Beginnings

At Church I am in the Young Women's Presidency.  I have the opportunity to work with all the girls age 12-18, but specifically I work with the 14-16 year old girls.  I love it.  I have always loved working with teenagers.  Sure, there are times they drive me nuts, but I love it.  AND working with the Young Women really gives me the chance to to be creative.

Tonight we have New Beginnings.  It is an annual event the Young Women have to help parents plan for the upcoming year, and get motivated to work on Personal Progress.    We decided to have a theme of Your Happily Ever After based on a talk given by Dieter F. Uchtdorf.  It is a great talk, and makes for a great theme.

I was in charge of the invites.  I modeled them after the invites to the baby shower I had for Kiah.  It looks like a little book and I thought that was perfect given the theme.

They took forever to make, but I think they turned out so stinkin' cute.

I also made pennants for each of the Young Women to use as decorations.  There will be a talk using the scripture Doctrine & Covenants 25:15
Keep my commandments continually, and a crown of righteousness thou shalt receive. And except thou do this, where I am you cannot come.
So I added a crown to the head of each young woman.  It was fun making the pennants.  I got to edit each picture and string them all together.  I think they turned out pretty cute.  And without even knowing it I put the two girls that babysit my kids right next to each other.

We all made lovely little tea party foods, like finger sandwiches, scones, and I made panna cotta.

Each class needed to make a presentation about the logo for their class.  My class's logo is the rose, to symbolize, love, faith, and purity.  As each girl enters the class they are presented with a Rose ring I make and are then part of the "Rose Society."   It was my way of making the middle class a little more fun.  So each month we talk about faith, love, and purity and the Rose.

I really can't wait for the girls and their families to see all the work everyone did!
