Somehow time has gotten away from me again.
After the ultrasound we headed over to Memphis in May International BBQ competition. It was fun. We got to take part in the People’s Choice Judging booth. So we got to sample 5 different pulled porks. Chris and I agreed on the ranking, which I was amused by, since we usually don’t agree on that sorta thing. We also took a free tour that took us up close to the action. Usually you cannot enter a competitor’s booth, but on the tour you do. So we were able to get the inside scoop on competition BBQ from 3 different competitors. It was interesting. The kids got a little antsy, but that was to be expected. We learned that it is always VERY muddy at the Memphis in May competition. And all the vendors had rain boots and galoshes just in case. A LOT of the women just wore them all the time. The weatherman had predicted rain for the day so we made sure to bring stroller covers and ponchos along for the day. And thank goodness we did. While at the last booth it began to sprinkle, so we went and covered the strollers. We finished just in time for a massive poor! Kiah wanted to get out and play in it. So we got our rain gear on and she ran through every puddle she could find. Everyone was getting the biggest kick out of it. Kiah loved it cuz EVERYONE stopped to watch, take pictures and film. She was such a Ham! So I guess she was in the right place. She finally found the perfect puddle. It went up to just between her ankles and knees. She could really stomp a lot in that mud bath. Which all little piggies need a mud bath, right. We felt it was fitting to have a mudbath at a BBQ competition. We left shortly after her romp in the puddles, since she was soaked through. I was so sore the next day. Walking 5 miles pushing a stroller up and down hills takes a lot out of a pregnant woman!
But apparently I felt well enough to garden by that Saturday. We got all our plants and seeds in the ground. Then I undertook another project I had been putting off. I dug up some bulbs in our backyard that I wanted to move to the front yard. I had no idea how much they had overgrown. I am not sure they had ever been broken up. It took almost all day. The next morning I could hardly get out of bed. I wish I could say the project is done. But there are more in the front yard, and I still have to build the planter and replant the bulbs. Sheesh!
